1st Rule

We know
i = V(TOTAL) / (R1 + R2 + R3)
so the voltage over the first resistor
is

V1=i R1 = R1 VTOTAL / (R1 + R2 + R3)

2nd rule

V1 =(v(total)XR1)/(R1+R2+R3)

Similarly

V2 =(v(total)XR2)/(R1+R2+R3)

V3 =(v(total)XR3)/(R1+R2+R3)
